Sole trader and partnership accounts

Sole traders and partnerships get their own accounts, laid out for the tax return. They are not filed at Companies House; their figures go on the SA103 or SA800.

Preparing them

  1. Start from the figures

Import a trial balance, or use "Prepare accounts from the books" on the Reports tab.

  2. Map and build

Map the trial balance and build the accounts, as for a company.

  3. Add the people

Add the proprietor or partners. For a partnership enter each partner's profit share, salary, interest on capital, capital and current account brought forward, capital introduced and drawings.

  4. Approve

Press "Approve the accounts". Download the accounts from the preview.

Onto the tax return

The SA100 fills in self-employment pages "From the year-end accounts", and the SA800 fills in "From the year-end accounts".
