Preparing an SA800 partnership return

The SA800 holds the partnership's trading income, the partners and how the profit is shared, and produces the partnership statement.

Preparing the return

  1. Start it

On the Tax returns tab open "Partnership tax return (SA800)", choose the tax year and press "Start".

  2. Add the partners

Enter each partner's name, UTR, NI number, dates joined or left, any salary, interest on capital and their share of the remaining profit. Press "Save partner".

  3. Fill in from the accounts

Press "Fill in from the year-end accounts", then complete the partnership, trading income and finishing sections. The accounts' own expense headings come across, and any difference goes in box 3.63, other expenses.

  4. Share the profit

Press "Save and share out the profit". The tax computation and partnership statement update.

  5. Carry it to each partner

Press "Put each partner's share on their own return (SA104)". The description, the dates they joined or left in the tax year and their share of taxed interest go across too.

LLP members' returns

An LLP has a partnership return and a return for each member. "Fill in from the year-end accounts" reads the LLP's latest FRS 102 accounts ending in the tax year, including a revised set. The members' share is the profit before members' remuneration and profit shares, and interest received is moved out of trading profit.

Members are added in the "Partners" panel with "Add a partner". A member who is not a client of the practice in their own right gets a return kept on the LLP: on "Start a return" choose them under "For", where they show as their name followed by (partner).

Filing

Accountin files 2025-26 partnership returns.

Filing with HMRC switches on once HMRC has issued Accountin its own vendor ID. Until then the filing buttons are greyed out, and the return can still be prepared, printed and approved.
