Preparing the revised set
Open the filed accounts
On the client's Year end tab open the filed set. The "Approval" panel says the accounts have been filed and can no longer be changed.
Start the revision
Press "Prepare revised accounts". A new draft for the same period opens, copied from the filed accounts, marked "revised", with a link back to the accounts it replaces.
Correct the accounts
Change the figures or the details that were wrong, as you would for any draft.
Say what was wrong
In "Details for the accounts", under "Revised accounts", enter "Date the original accounts were approved", "How the original accounts failed to comply with the Companies Act 2006" and, if you want, "Significant amendments made as a result". Press "Save the details".
Approve the revised set
Enter the date the directors or members approve the revised accounts, which must be after the original approval date, and press "Approve the accounts".
File
In "Filing with Companies House", press "Send a test filing" to have Companies House's test service check the revised accounts.
What the revised accounts show
- A section headed "Revised financial statements", saying the revised statements replace the ones the directors or members approved on the original date, and are prepared as at that date.
- The respects in which the original accounts did not comply with the Companies Act 2006, and any significant amendments made as a result.
- An approval line for the revised statements, and the title "Revised unaudited financial statements".
- The iXBRL marks the accounts as amended and carries the date the revision was approved.
Which accounts can be revised
FRS 102 Section 1A accounts that were filed with Companies House from Accountin. Micro-entity accounts under FRS 105 do not yet carry the revision statements, so Accountin does not prepare revised FRS 105 accounts. A set that has already been revised opens its revision.
Revision by replacement is the method used. The rules, including revision by supplementary note, are in revising defective accounts.
Filing
Revised accounts can be sent to Companies House's test service from Accountin. Filing them live switches on once Accountin has confirmed with Companies House how its filing service takes amended accounts. Until then, file the revised accounts through Companies House's own service.
Filing with Companies House switches on once Companies House has issued Accountin its own filing credentials. Until then the filing buttons show a message saying live filing is not switched on yet.
