VT Final Accounts and 64-bit Excel

VT Final Accounts is an Excel add-in and runs only in the 32-bit desktop version of Excel. VT lists the 64-bit version, the Microsoft Store version and the web and mobile versions of Office as not supported. New PCs often come with 64-bit Office already installed.

  1. Check which Excel you have

    In Excel, open File, then Account, then About Excel. The first line says 32-bit or 64-bit.

  2. Reinstall the 32-bit version

    VT's advice is that your Office or Microsoft 365 licence should let you reinstall the 32-bit desktop version. Remove the 64-bit version, then install Office again from your Microsoft account, choosing the 32-bit version in the install options.

  3. Reinstall the VT add-ins

    Install VT again so the add-ins attach to the new Excel.

After an Excel update

VT has published fixes when a Microsoft 365 update stopped the add-ins working, including a system error after a recent Excel update. Its blog lists the current ones.

Accounts without Excel

Accountin produces FRS 105 micro-entity and FRS 102 Section 1A small company accounts inside the software, with the notes filled in and checked, and files them with Companies House. There is no add-in to keep in step with Excel.
