Setting up your former Taxfiler clients
If your clients went to IRIS Elements with the IRIS migration tool, each client's latest trial balance from there becomes their opening position in Accountin.
If you kept trial balances and client details exported from Taxfiler before July 2025, they are enough to set clients up, with last year's figures as comparatives. Practices on the waiting list have this set-up done for them.
Returns and approval
A client can approve a VAT return or a Self Assessment return from their phone before it is sent. Returns go to HMRC, and accounts to Companies House, once Accountin's filing approvals are in place.
Income tax under Making Tax Digital
Sole traders and landlords within Making Tax Digital for Income Tax send HMRC a quarterly update and a final declaration. Accountin builds each update from the client's records, for self-employment and UK property income, on standard or calendar quarters.
