Each client moves across with its closing position from your current package: the trial balance at the last year end, and what its customers and suppliers owe. The new year then starts in Accountin.
For each client, a trial balance at the last year end, and lists of customers and suppliers with the amounts they owe. VT Transaction+ exports a trial balance to CSV from the Edit menu.
We check each trial balance balances and map your nominal codes to the Accountin chart of accounts with you.
Opening balances go in, open invoices are brought across, and last year's figures sit ready as the comparatives in this year's accounts.
Bank transactions, VAT returns and the year-end are done in Accountin from then on. Your old package keeps the history for as long as you want to look at it.
VT runs on a Windows PC, and VT Final Accounts needs the 32-bit version of Excel. Accountin runs in a browser on any computer, and the accounts are produced without Excel.
A VT data file can be opened by one person at a time. In Accountin several people can work on the same client at once, and the books are backed up without anyone copying files.
Bright is retiring BTCSoftware. Individual and partnership returns stop after the 2025/26 tax year, and accounts and corporation tax stop for periods ending after 31 March 2027.
IRIS stopped supporting Taxfiler on 31 March 2025 and closed read-only access on 31 July 2025.
Any package that exports a trial balance to CSV or Excel can be moved the same way.
