Filing accounts at Companies House

Approved company and LLP accounts are filed in iXBRL from the "Filing with Companies House" panel on the set of accounts.

Filing

  1. Approve the accounts

The filing buttons stay greyed out until the accounts are approved.

  2. Save the authentication code

Enter the company's six-character authentication code and press "Save code".

  3. Test it

Press "Send a test filing". Companies House's test service checks the accounts without filing them.

  4. File

Press "File with Companies House". Acceptance follows by email to the receipt address in Settings.

Before you can file

The practice's presenter ID and authentication code must be in Settings, and the client needs a company number and an approval date.

Filing with Companies House switches on once Companies House has issued Accountin its own filing credentials. Until then the filing buttons show a message saying live filing is not switched on yet.

Companies House will accept accounts only from software from April 2028. See Companies House accounts changes in 2028.

Accountin is opening to its first practices
