Companies House identity verification for directors and presenters

Directors, people with significant control and LLP members have had to verify their identity with Companies House since 18 November 2025. Checks for people who file on a company's behalf come later.

When does an existing director have to verify?

18 November 2025 started a 12-month transition, during which each existing director and PSC verifies by their own due date. GOV.UK says the 18 November date itself is not a deadline.

What happens at the confirmation statement?

The person filing gives each director's Companies House personal code and ticks a statement that each director has verified.

When do accountants who file have to verify?

Identity checks for people who file at Companies House start no earlier than November 2027, with at least six months' notice. Accountants can register as authorised corporate service providers and verify identities for clients.

What about corporate directors?

No date has been set for corporate directors, corporate LLP members or limited partnerships.

Where does the personal code go in Accountin?
