The end of the year and the final declaration

After the fourth update, the end of year page takes the adjustments, allowances and losses for each business, then the calculation and the final declaration, due by 31 January.

Finishing the year

  1. Open the year

On the Income tax tab press "End of year".

  2. Enter the adjustments

For each business, enter adjustments, allowances such as the annual investment allowance or trading allowance, and losses. Press "Save", then "Send adjustments and allowances" and "Send losses".

  3. Get the calculation

Press "Final calculation (intent to finalise)" to ask HMRC for it.

  4. Record the client's approval

Once the client has seen the information and the calculation, tick the box and press "Record the client's approval".

  5. Declare

Read HMRC's declaration, tick "I agree" and press "Make the final declaration".

Who can do it

Only the main agent can see the calculation and make the final declaration. Other income such as dividends and savings goes on the Self Assessment return.

Submission to HMRC switches on once HMRC has recognised Accountin and issued its software credentials. Until then the screen says sending is not switched on yet, and everything up to the send works: building, checking and the client's approval.
