Sending an update
Find the period
On the Income tax tab each business lists its update periods, the date each is due and whether HMRC has received it. Press "Prepare".
Check the figures
"Figures for HMRC" shows each category, the HMRC field and the amount, with total income, total expenses and income less expenses.
Categorise the rest
"Needs a category" lists record lines without one. Choose a category, or "Not business (leave out)", and save.
Send
Press "Send to HMRC". HMRC's answer, accepted or refused, is kept under "Sent for this period".
Deadlines and corrections
Updates are due on 7 August, 7 November, 7 February and 7 May. Because each update covers the year to date, the next one carries any correction.
Submission to HMRC switches on once HMRC has recognised Accountin and issued its software credentials. Until then the screen says sending is not switched on yet, and everything up to the send works: building, checking and the client's approval.
Accountin is opening to its first practices
